Dog food
Today some kids came by for a school fundraiser. When I opened the door I had to hold Izzy back to keep her from jumping on them and/or running away. So that the kids wouldn't be scared I just told them that she gets a little hyper. One of the girls looked a little confused, and a few seconds later she asked me, "so, do you feed your dog sugar?"
Awesome.

Two Months!
Corbin is two months old. It is crazy how quickly the time flies. We decided to move him out of his bassinet in our bedroom, and he is now sleeping in his crib. It is amazing how much better I sleep with him in there. I wish we would have moved him a few weeks ago!
I took Corbin in for his 2 month doctor appointment yesterday. It was vaccination time, so the poor kid has some battle wounds where they poked him. Here is an update on his statistics, along with his percentage compared to the average child.
Height: 23 1/4 inches ____________55%
Weight: 10 lbs 13 oz_____________30%
Head circumference: 15 inches______15%
The good news is that his weight has increased from being in the 10th percentile to the 30th. As you can see, his head is still pretty small. The funny this is that I don't think it looks small at all, I just think that other kids have big heads :)
At the appointment the doctor put Corbin on his stomach to see how high he would lift his head, and the doctor was very impressed! He said that Corbin lifted his head higher than most kids can at 2 months (probably because all those other kids have heads that are twice the size of his!)

Funky
There is a strange smell emanating from our neighbors to the North. It almost reminds me of back when my Korean roommate Pam would cook. But the smell doesn't come through where their kitchen is, it is smelly upstairs by our shared bedroom walls. Why does it smell so bad by the bedroom? That must be some pretty powerful food to seep through the walls. Even Pam's cooking wouldn't smell up the apartment next door...

so sleepy
Today I went and visited my old work. It was really nice to see all my friends there, and to show off the baby. I ended up going to lunch at a mexican place called Qdoba with my friend Marcy, which was really nice. At my work there is this cute massage therapist name
Anyways, that is about all I have to say right now. Corbin has been sleeping a ton today. I am kind of worried that he won't sleep tonight, but I can't get him to stay awake! Maybe he is just growing, and needs lots of sleep. Let's hope that he doesn't stay up all night.

Muscle Man
It has been a while since I put up new pictures. Corbin is now 7 weeks old. Can you believe it? He is getting so strong! Check out the first two pictures. He is totally trying to roll himself over. And yes, both of his legs in the second picture are completely in the air. He is one tough dude.

the results
Corbin did awesome with the catheter! He barely even cried. I was very impressed, and very relieved. The results of this last procedure confirm that Corbin does have urinary reflux (it was so obvious, that even I could easily see it on the x-ray machine). Corbin's doctor called today and explained it all to us. In a normal body, the ureter (which connects the kidney to the bladder) enters the bladder at an angle, so that after urine passes into the bladder the ureter closes off so that the urine cannot travel back up the ureter. For Corbin, the ureter enters the bladder straight on, so it never closes off, which allows urine to make its way back up the ureter and back into the kidney. This puts him at a high risk for urinary tract infections, so it is definately a good thing that he has been on amoxicillin since his birth. I imagine he will be on it for quite a while longer. Sometimes this condition requires surgery, but othertimes it does not. We have made an appointment to see the pediatric urologist so that he can give us an idea of what the next step will be.
The urologist is the same one that we saw when I was pregnant, but since that time he left the office he was at (which was a part of The Childrens Hospital) and started up his own practice. Because of this, he is no longer in network with United Healthcare (he was before when we saw him because he was under The Children's Hospital, and the accepted UHC) This means that he has had to apply to get in network with UHC, and they said they will hear back on October first whether or not he is accepted into their network. So I went ahead and made the appointment for the first, and we will just hope that he gets in network. If not, there is another urologist that we can go to, we were just hoping to see this one because we really liked him.
Well, that is about all I have time to write, right now. Corbin is fussing, and it is time for his dinner.
Smell ya later.

baby coybin
Corbin had his ultrasound yesterday, and here are the results. His left kidney is still a little dialated on the bottom. The doctor thinks that it could be one of two things. Either he has a small cyst on his kidney, or it could be urinary reflux. Basically they think that when he goes, some of the urine gets pushed upwards, instead of down and out. To figure out which it is, I am taking Corbin back to the horspital tomorrow, and they will give him a catheter (poor kid) and they will inject him with dye. Then when he urinates they will put him under a special light to see if any urine traveled up instead of down. I will let you all know how the test goes tomorrow, and what the results are.

BBQ
Clark and I made these skewers for dinner on Sunday. I highly recommend them. They are really tasty, and really easy to make. The perfect kind of recipe, if you ask me. I got the recipe from http://www.kraftfoods.com/ This website always has lots of good and easy recipes posted.

Caramelized Beef Skewers
1 lb. beef sirloin steak, thinly sliced
1/4 cup A.1. Original Steak Sauce, divided
1/4 cup KRAFT Original Barbecue Sauce
1 tsp. GREY POUPON Dijon Mustard
TOSS steak with 2 Tbsp. of the steak sauce; let stand 10 min. to marinate. Meanwhile, combine remaining 2 Tbsp. steak sauce, the barbecue sauce and mustard; set aside.
PREHEAT grill to medium-high heat. Thread steak onto eight long soaked wooden or metal skewers.
GRILL skewers 6 min. or until steak is cooked through, turning after 3 min. and brushing generously with the barbecue sauce mixture.
