Cement truck

The cement truck came today to fix the big crack in our driveway. Corbin has been so excited for this day! They have been doing other driveways in our neighborhood, and he would ask everyday when the cement truck was going to come to our house. At 7 this morning he came running into my room, "Mommy! The trucks are here! Hurry, hurry, come see!" And we spend the morning watching them tear out the section of driveway, prep it for cement, and finally we got to see the cement truck come! Corbin loved every second of it.

Ultrasound pics

Here are a few of the ultrasound pictures from yesterday. I'm glad we didn't take Corbin along. When we got home, Clark said, "Corbin come see the pictures of your baby sister." And Corbin started getting scared, "No! I don't want to go to doctor!" But, he was happy to glance at them once we told him he could look at the pictures at home, and that he didn't have to come to the doctor's office to see them.

It's a...

Girl!

Clark and Corbin knew it all along. I, however, was pretty shocked that it wasn't a boy.

Blue or Pink?

In one week (on Monday, June 21), we will hopefully be able to find out the gender of baby 2. Please feel free to cast your vote before that time. I vote boy. Clark votes girl, and Corbin votes he will have a baby sister.

The poll is posted on blog. So if your are using Google reader, then you will have to jump over to my blog to vote.

No more sassy

I am really proud of Corbin. He is officially pacifier free. For the last couple of months, Clark would occasionally ask Corbin if he wanted to throw his paci away. Corbin would always respond with great distress, and say things like, "but I love my sassy!" Well, a couple of weeks ago Clark asked him again, and this time Corbin said yes. And he ran up to his bed, got his paci, and then threw it in the garbage can. In the meantime, Clark and I are both stumbling over our words, and saying things like, "Are you sure about this?" "You can't get the paci back once it goes in the garbage. It will be gone forever." "No more paci" We were both quite sure that Corbin would have a really hard time going to sleep that night. And we were right. As soon as Corbin got in bed, he started begging for his sassy. It got to the point to where he was nearly hysterical. So I dug out the last pacifier in the house. It was one that he hated, and I cut the end off (which I had previously also done with the favorite, but now thrown away pacifier, but the cut had not effected his love for that one in the slightest). Anyways, seeing that pacifier calmed him down enough that he finally went to sleep.

We have had a couple of weeks of rough sleep (especially at first). But last night Corbin informed me that it was now his Teddy Bear's sassy, and he carefully made sure that Teddy Bear had the pacifier right by it's mouth for bedtime.

Corbin quotes

* We were at the park, and Corbin wanted me to bury his feet in the sand. He said, "Mommy, please garden me."

* We walked by a house the other day that had a fire going in a fire pit. Corbin gave a big sigh and said, "I sure wish I lived at that yard."

* Corbin loves climbing our split-rail fence to see if any of our neighbors are outside. If he happens to see one of our neighbors he will then engage them in lengthy conversations. He was talking to our neighbor in this manner and he asked her, "Do you have a Corbin?"

Saturday night sunset

Clark has been really busy with work lately. He worked until about 11:30 pm each night this week. He even had to go in to work today. But we still managed to have a really nice evening together. We started the night by making a little trike track for Corbin in the street in front of our house. I love that we live on such a quiet little street, so that we were able to do this activity. Corbin absolutely loved it.
After the trike we got out Corbin's wagon and took a walk to throw some rocks in the little stream by our house. Luckily I brought along the camera, because there was a beautiful sunset while we were walking. We ate some ice-cream once we got home, and then got Corbin into bed. Corbin has been having a tremendously hard time going to sleep at night. He won't stay in his room. His favorite excuse is "Mom/Dad, I want a big hug." Which is really cute the first time, but after about an hour of fighting to get him to go to bed, it gets really frustrating. The other night Corbin was crying and screaming for about 15 minutes because I wouldn't let him leave his room. Once he was finally quiet for a few minutes, I went to check on him, and this is how he had fallen asleep.

Anyhow. Here are some pictures (and a video) of our nice Saturday night.

Corbin took the above picture. I think he did a great job!
