Happy 40th, Jeff

Today was Jeff's 40th birthday. He was in my thoughts all day. Sweet Corbin came down for breakfast dressed in his Star Wars shirt (that matched Jeff's shirt), Darth Vader belt, and Boba Fett socks. I thought it was sweet of him to honor Jeff in his own little way.
The kids and I met my parents and Troy and Whitney and their two kids at the cemetery (Clark got caught up at work, unfortunately). We wrote notes on balloons and sent them up to heaven. We also decorated Jeff's grave with 9 pinwheels, for his 9 nieces and nephews that love him so much. After that we went to Noodles & Co. for an early dinner. Jeff loooovved their mac and cheese. We ate there and then just enjoyed each other's company for quite some time. After we separated ways, I took the kids home and we watched Star Wars, The Force Awakens. And we ate lots of candy eggs, marshmallow circus peanuts, and doughnuts. Tyson gave himself a belly ache, he ate so many circus peanuts. But, those were all things that Jeff loved. As I tucked Corbin into bed he said, "today was a good day, Mom!" I replied, "Jeff sure loved you!" and Corbin corrected me, "No, Mom. Jeff LOVES me, not LOVED me. He still loves me. " How true. Thanks for the reminder, buddy.

Happy 40th, Jeff! We love you, and we miss you.

Butterflies

This year, the Easter Bunny brought the kids a Butterfly Garden kit. The kids loved watching the caterpillars turn into chrysalis, and then into butterflies. Today we let the butterflies go. Only one butterfly flew away immediately. The remaining four were very happy to be held, and then placed into the grass. The kids thought it was awesome!
