yesterday

I took Corbin in for his 12 month check up. Here are his stats:
weight: 19 lb 12 oz.....7 %
height: 31 inches.......80%
head: 17 3/4 inches...15%

Also, yesterday I babysat a friend's 9 months old daughter. The day went surprisingly well, with the exception of Corbin headbutting the little girl. Of course they both started crying, but then 2 minutes later Corbin tried to do it at least 3 more times. Apparently my son's a bully.

If you're happy and you know it...

Corbin clapped for the first time today! He is also learning how to do the backwards baby crawl down the stairs. And just for fun, here is a video of Corbin waving "hi." Ignore the fact that his face is covered in spaghetti :)

Weekend fun!

We've had a fun filled birthday weekend. Friday night we went to the park and then we came home to do presents and cake. Saturday we went to the pool (a first for Corbin) in the morning. And then later in the afternoon we went on a bike ride. Best of all, we have been snacking on cake all weekend.

Corbin was a little scared of the fountains, but he loved playing in the pool!
Corbin loved eating Laffy Taffy

We forgot to bring Corbin a hat, so he got to wear Clark's. Oddly enough, he didn't try to pull it off, the way he does with all of his hats.

Happy Birthday Corbin!

One year ago today, I went to my weekly doctor appointment. It was 5 days before my due date, but I wasn't really having any contractions, so I didn't think the baby would be coming for at least another week or so. At my appointment, they found that my blood pressure was pretty high, so the doctor gave me the choice to be induced that day, or be monitored for 24 hours. Since I was already dilated to 4, I decided to be induced. So I went home to grab my bag, and a quick bite to eat. I called Clark and asked him if he wanted to have a baby today, and thought I was kidding at first. He hurried home from work, we installed the car seat, and then we headed off to the hospital. We checked in at 1 p.m. They induced me at 2 p.m., and broke my water at 5 p.m. Corbin was born at 8:58 p.m. The umbilical cord was wrapped twice around his neck, so the doctor had to quickly cut the cord (which sent blood spurting across the room. In some of the pictures you can actually see it on Clark's shirt) and get it unwrapped. After that he started crying and they cleaned him off and handed him over to me. I can't believe that a year has already passed since that day! I love my little boy, and it is so much fun watching him grow up!

My cute boy

Did I mention that I am really happy with the way Corbin's 1 year pictures turned out? I ended up making a collage at shuttefly.com. Unfortunately, I can't post that collage on my blog. The collage below at least shows you the pictures I used. However, the format on shutterfly is much better. The "one" picture is big and it is on the left hand side, and going down the right hand side are the individual letter pictures (in black and white). So fun. I love taking pictures.

And here are some of my other favorites. I had a really hard time deciding what pictures to put in the collage (after all, I did take about 80 pictures total).

I took Corbin's 1 year pictures yesterday. I hadn't been planning on doing it yet, but I looked outside, and it was a perfectly overcast day (which results in great lighting, because of the lack of harsh sunlight and shadows). So I grabbed a cute, clean outfit, and I loaded Corbin in the stroller. We walked down the path behind our house and went to a little park area that I had tucked away in my brain as a nice picture spot. I am really happy with the way the pictures turned out! Here's a little sneak peek.

Utah pictures!

Here are some of the highlights from our Utah trip. We had lots of fun seeing our friends and family!

Loved all the Guitar Hero games (which I dominated!!)

Corbin has so much fun playing with the dogs, and Uncle Jeffy taught Corbin to wave bye-bye!

The Burton Campout
Grandpa Burton and the family tree. Corbin is somthing like 117, I think.
Eating popsicles

Playing in the sprinklers with Grandma B. *as a side note, I absolutely love the lighting in these pictures*

And last, but not least, here are the baby birds we came home to. I know it is not the best picture, I need to pull out the ladder so I can get a better shot.

7/11

Happy Slurpee Day!

I've been summoned

A couple of days ago I got a surprise in the mail...a jury summons. I have to go in on Aug. 6. Does anyone know about how long a summons lasts? I'll have to find a sitter for Corbin.

sleepy

You will never guess what time Corbin woke up yesterday. Seriously. It's insane. He went to bed at 7:30 p.m., and he didn't wake up until 11:45 a.m. Sixteen hours of sleep (maybe he was practicing for his teenage years). He didn't even wake up to eat anything! I kept checking on him all morning, to make sure he was still breathing, and he was out like a light! My only guess is that he was trying to make up for all the sleep he missed while we were in Utah.

We're baaaack!

Well, we arrived home Monday night, safe and sound. Clark is already pretty busy with work, and I am busy trying to get things organized around here again. Unfortunately, I left my camera's usb cord in Utah. I have another one, but do you think I remember where it is? Hopefully I can find it soon, because I just took some pictures of our newly hatched baby birds (the nest is on our front porch and I can see it every time I look out the front window, it brings me great joy).
