Camping

We went camping with some friends this last weekend in Estes Park, which is about 1 1/2 hours north west of our house in Rocky Mountain National Park. We had a really pretty campsite, with lots of trees. Overall, I would have to say that Corbin did really well with his first tent camping experience. The first night was pretty rough, he woke up around 5 or 6 times. However, the second night Corbin didn't wake up at all, which was really nice because Clark and I were pretty tired that night. We went on two hikes while we were there, and Corbin fell asleep in his baby backpack during both of them. I seriously love that backpack.
My two boys
Our friends brought their hammock. I was surprised that Corbin didn't like it. I think Corbin looks so cute all bundled up in this picture, we had just woken up and it was still pretty cold.

Corbin had so much fun playing in the dirt and rocks. Since he is still really unsteady on his feet, he crawled around everywhere and was covered in dirt.
We went into downtown Estes to get some ice cream. I definitely want to go back and spend some time roaming around downtown Estes. It is a really quaint, cute place.

pool time

All summer I have been wanting to buy Corbin a little kiddie pool. They finally went on clearance at Target, and so I ordered one and it came in the mail yesterday. We set it up today, and Corbin had tons of fun playing in the water. He kept trying to pick up handfuls of water to put in his bucket. Kids are so funny.

He was playing with the hose, and he totally sprayed himself in the face.

Walking!

Thursday: 2 steps

Friday: 5 steps

Saturday: 30 steps!

Corbin must have been waiting for Clark to come home, so that Clark could see him really take off with the whole walking thing :) The first video is Saturday morning and the second one is Saturday night. It is crazy to compare how much better he has gotten in just one day. Oh, and as a random side note, I discovered today that Corbin has 2 more teeth on the top, making 10 teeth total.

fun times

Corbin has been doing some fun stuff lately, and since I am terrible at journal writing, this blog has become my way of recording things I want to remember.

*Starting about a week ago, Corbin points at Izzy and says, "dah"
*Yesterday I gave Corbin a paper towel tube to play with, and he went over to Izzy and smacked her on the head a couple of times. He laughed, and then he hit is own head with it a few times, and then went back to hitting Izzy.
*We set up Corbin's basketball hoop over the weekend. Corbin loves playing with Clark. He rebounds while Clark shoots. Sunday Clark left for L.A. for work training, and yesterday Corbin picked up the basketball and he looked around and said, "da da, da da." It was so cute! Corbin definitely misses his daddy.

seriously?

I just got back from the mailbox. Guess what Clark got...a jury summons! What are the odds that we both get jury summons within one month of each other? It's just crazy!

Kyle asked where we ripped up tile, it was at the bottom of our stairs, in front of the garage door. It was a much bigger project than we had planned. The person that installed the tile had both screwed down, and glued down the cement board that goes under the tile. Normally the cement board is just screwed down, and so it is really easy to lift out. Instead, we spent the day scraping all the glue off the floor. It was a huge pain!

I really hate this tile. But if I had known it was going to be so crappy to rip out, I think we would have left it be.

We still have the front entry left to do. I think we will wait a while to take on this project.

yum

We spent the day Saturday ripping up tile. What a pain. Corbin was a really good boy, while we were making such a mess. At the end of the day, however, he was getting pretty sick of being restricted from that area of the house, so I gave him a sucker to distract him. He loved it, and as you can see from the second picture, he freaked out when I took it out of his mouth for the picture.

Mt Evans

Today we were supposed to babysit for some people from church, but they ended up cancelling at the last minute (kind of annoying because some friends invited us to go bike riding up in Vail, and we had to turn them down). So, we decided that we should still do something fun today. We drove up to Mt. Evans. Unfortunately we hit some really bad traffic, and for 70% of the drive Corbin was screaming because he was super tired, but wouldn't fall asleep. But once we finally made it to the mountain (and Corbin had taken a little nap), we were really glad that we hadn't thrown in the towel and gone home. Apparently Mt. Evans is the highest paved road in North America. Pretty cool stuff. It was really nice to relax and get away for a little while.

Summit Lake

At the top

While we were at the top, it started snowing! I gave Corbin my sweater to try and keep him warm, but I don't think it helped much.
Coming down the mountain, we turned a corner and were surprised to see this beautiful rainbow!

fam damily

We had pictures taken with Clark's fam while we were in Utah last month. It was the day we arrived, and we had been up since 4 a.m. Yikes! Here are three of my favorites.

We were supposed to wear red, white, or blue; but I guess we were the only ones feeling like red that day. Oh well, all the more attention for me!

yesterday

I took Corbin in for his 12 month check up. Here are his stats:
weight: 19 lb 12 oz.....7 %
height: 31 inches.......80%
head: 17 3/4 inches...15%

Also, yesterday I babysat a friend's 9 months old daughter. The day went surprisingly well, with the exception of Corbin headbutting the little girl. Of course they both started crying, but then 2 minutes later Corbin tried to do it at least 3 more times. Apparently my son's a bully.
