Tarzan!

We had a quick family night lesson earlier tonight about Adam and Eve. At one point in the lesson Clark pointed to the picture of Adam and said, "So, Corbin, who is this man?" And Corbin replied, "Ummm...Tarzan!!"
I guess I can see the resemblance. :)

Nuggets vs Jazz

Yesterday, we got a really fun phone call. The office-managing partner offered us tickets for that night's round 1, game 1 playoff game, Nuggets versus Jazz! I couldn't help but cheer for the Jazz. The Nuggets won the game 126-113. It was actually a really close game until the 4th quarter, and the high scores made it really fun to watch. However, I think that my favorite part was the half-time show. It was performed by an ex-cirque du soleil member named Wolfgang Bientzle. Here are a couple of videos I took with my camera.

Sunday night we moved Corbin's mattress out of his crib and put it on the floor. It works as his new "big boy bed" until we decide what kind of twin bed to buy. I kind of like transitioning with the mattress on the floor because I don't have to worry about Corbin falling out of bed. I know some people think that Corbin is pretty old to just barely be moving out of his crib. But he has only tried once (unsuccessfully) to climb out of the crib, and keeping him confined in the crib made life easier.

Corbin loves his "new" bed. The first two nights he played in his room until finally falling asleep at 10 p.m. However, last night I only heard him playing for maybe 15 minutes before he went to sleep. We are definitely making progress.
Yesterday around 11:30 in the morning Corbin kept saying that he wanted to go to bed. I just figured it was because he wanted his paci (which will eventually be the next thing to go), so I told him he couldn't go to bed until after we cooked our french fries for lunch. So, Corbin went upstairs anyways. I went and checked on him 5 minutes later, and he was zonked out on his bed. I was amazed!

Happy Easter

We have really been enjoying life lately. Here is some of what we have been doing.

Corbin emptied all the toys out of this container and crawled inside saying, "I'm going down to the crawl space! See ya!" (we have a crawl space under our house for storage).

I found Corbin like this the other day, while I was doing some laundry. He is such a character.

Coloring Easter eggs. Corbin loved it!

We went to the park with our friends Kylee, Russ and Caden. Growing up, Clark would get a new kite each Easter, so we decided to go ahead and buy Corbin a spiderman kite. And it was a perfectly blustery day for kite flying. We actually had a hard time getting it to stay up in the air at first, because of all the strong gusts of wind. But I win the prize, because I'm the one that got it to stay up. We also had a little Easter egg hunt for the boys. Corbin and Caden kept racing to get one egg, and when they would sprint to get that one, at least 3 would fall out of each of their baskets, so they would then turn around and find even more eggs on the ground! It was really funny to watch, and it allowed the egg hunt to last longer than I thought it would.

We also watched General Conference that day (which was wonderful, I can't wait to read the talks when the Ensign comes out. It's hard to listen when you have a 2 year old clamoring for attention.) During one part, Corbin was on the floor playing, when all of the sudden he heard Elder Holland say the word stupidity. He immediately jumped up and gasped, "He said that naughty word! The prophet said the naughty word!" Clark and I had a really hard time hiding the laughter. Then I had to do some quick thinking and explain that Elder Holland was talking about some really naughty people, and that's why he used a naughty word. Pretty funny.

We made pear-apple pie for our dessert on Easter. We love this recipe. It is definitely a family favorite. Corbin loves helping in the kitchen.

Easter morning. Corbin went straight for the candy, and then had a major sugar crash a few hours later.

What we have been up to lately

*We have been enjoying the beautiful weather lately (although it did snow yesterday, luckily it should melt soon)

* We found a leak in the wall/ceiling of our pantry. One of our friends from church was nice enough to come and help us sauter the new pipe (I'm not sure we could have done it on our own because it was in a pretty tricky spot)

* And last, here is a video of Corbin singing ABC's.

Dr. Corbin

Corbin wants to be a doctor when he grows up (and I'm not sure why, since he is still really afraid of doctors). A couple of time Clark or I have said to him, "You are growing up into such a big boy!" And Corbin will reply, "No. I not grow up big boy. I grow up docker!" So the other day I bought Corbin a small doctor set, and he has not stopped playing with it! Poor Izzy was his first patient (and she was very patient with him!)

exercise

Who needs a gym membership? Not me. I have the wonderful combination of a potty-training two-year-old, and 2nd floor bathrooms. Corbin will start dancing around and will yell, "I have to go potty!" So we make a mad dash up the stairs (sometimes with me carrying him), only to have Corbin walk in the bathroom and say, "I feel better." Not wanting to push him, I tell him that's okay, and we head back downstairs. Less than 5 minutes later, Corbin starts dancing around again, and yells, "I have to go potty!" Up the stairs we go again. This time I make him sit down. But nothing happens. So after about 15 minutes we go back downstairs, only to have an accident 5 minutes later. And this happens at least once everyday. Usually twice. It took me an hour to boil water for pasta the other day because I kept having to turn the stove off to run upstairs.

Sigh.

Corbin actually has no problems staying dry. He hasn't had a wet accident since we started potty training 1 1/2 weeks ago. He even stays dry at night, which is really great! It's the other part that has him a little confused. I'm hoping it clicks soon. Otherwise, we might have to take a break and try potty-training again in a month or so. I guess we'll see.

One funny thing, Corbin will sometimes sing the WonderPet's theme song, and change the words from:
"WonderPets, Wonderpets, we're on our way..."
to:
"Underwear, underwear, we're on our way..."

I was feeling crafty today, so followed this tutorial to make a valentines wreath. I decided to use up some of my scrap fabric, so the project was free, which is always an added bonus.

Great news

Corbin had an ultrasound this morning on his kidney, and we got some great news! The ultrasound showed no reflux, and his kidney looks great! For the first time in 2 1/2 years, Corbin will be off medication. I am so happy that the surgery was successful. Poor Corbin had a rough time with the ultrasound. And I really can't blame him, after all his doctor appointments in the last 3 months. He is pretty scared of going to see the doctor (in face, we took Izzy to the vet last week, and Corbin was really nervous. He kept saying, "I so scared" and he hid behind his hands while the vet looked over Izzy).
The cute thing was that after the doctor looked at Corbin's ultrasound and said that everything looked great and that we could go home, Corbin happily exclaimed at least 3 times, "I all better, I go home now! I all better!"

We do still have to go back again in one year for another ultrasound to check on Corbin's kidney. But he is off his medicine, and we are so happy that the surgery was a success!

Corbin loves music. Currently his favorite songs are "Follow the prophet" (the chorus part), "The Wonder Pets" theme song, and "Happy Birthday." He belts out these songs multiple times a day. Anytime I use the word "follow," Corbin will start singing, "follow the prophet!" It's pretty cute. Here is a fun video of Corbin singing. I bought him a little tape player with a microphone, and he was really excited about it. Corbin has become really camera shy lately, so it is pretty tough to get good videos and pictures, but he was pretty cooperative for this video.
