2 year pictures

I took Corbin's 2 year pictures this morning. We drove down to a park in Castle Pines, called Daniels Park. I had never been there before, and there are some really great views up there. I want to bring Clark back sometime, so he can see it. Corbin loved all the big rocks, and he had lots of fun exploring the area. And while Corbin was busy playing, I managed to get some pictures of him that turned out great!

He has almost the exact same expression here, as in his 18 month picture. How funny.

Happy Birthday Corbin!

We had such a fun day yesterday for Corbin's birthday! We started the day at a local splash park. Corbin was a little scared of the shooting water at first, but after Clark and I showed him around he had lots of fun!

Then we went and had lunch a Chick-fil-a. They gave Corbin free ice-cream, two balloons, and a stuffed animal cow for his birthday. After Corbin's nap, Clark and I gave Corbin one of his presents, a sand and water table. Corbin and Clark played with it all afternoon! And here is Corbin's Lightning McQueen cake. The cars were one of his presents. He couldn't wait to blow out the candle (which he accomplished on the first try), and play with his new cars.

This little video of Corbin made my day! I am still smiling about it! We love having Corbin in our little family. He bring us so much joy! Happy Birthday Corbin!

Quiet book

I have finally finished Corbin's quiet book, and just in time for his birthday Saturday! I am pretty proud of myself. It took me a long time to put it all together. You can click on the pictures to enlarge them and see details.

In case you can't tell, the pink bottle is a reused lotion bottle that I made into mosquito repellent. Corbin can practice twisting on the lid.
The next page has places to put a notebook and a pencil.
The fish have magnets on the back, and there is a magnet on the string, so you can move the fish around the maze. I got the idea for this page, along with the idea of the lock and key on the next page from this website. Under the lock and key there is a pocket with a wallet in it, and so far I have made Cookie Monster and Elmo credit cards to go in it.

The car is attatched to the book with an elastic cord.

Felt food, and pick the apples from the tree. I eventually want to number the apples, but that can wait until later.
Inside the Noahs Ark is a Noah figurine I bought from the dollar store, and some small plastic animals.

Yesterday Corbin and I had some fun drawing on a flattened diaper box. Corbin has known his shapes for a while now, and his favorites are heart and star.

4th of July vacation

We had a great 4th of July weekend. We started off the festivities by going camping. I loved our campsite. It was so beautiful, and it had a trickle of water running along the edge that made Corbin very happy. We hiked up to Devil's Head, which is the last manned fire tower in Colorado. The views up there are amazing. On a clear day, you can see 100 miles in every direction.

On July 4th, we drove down and watched Parker city's fireworks. Corbin was really excited to go see them, but he got a little bored towards the end of the show.

We watched the fireworks from the back of our car.

dump that rubble!

Today our street was re-paved. Corbin was in heaven watching all the big trucks. We rented a book about trucks from the library a few weeks ago, and one page was about a dump truck and it said, "dump that rubble!" So now whenever Corbin sees a dump truck, he loves to point out the "lubble"

more bad luck

Thursday night the hot water pipe under our kitchen sink broke. Water was everywhere! Luckily, Clark was home, and he ran down to our crawl-space to shut the water off. He was then able to buy a new pipe and fix the broken one. Easy fix. Or so we thought. Clark went back downstairs to turn the water back on, and the knob was stripped, and stuck in the off position. So Clark made another trip to the store, to buy a new valve, and sautering supplies. His first attempt (ever) at sautering in the new valve was not successful. There were a lot of leaks. By this time it was 11 p.m., so we went to bed. Clark tried sautering again when he got home from work Friday. After 2 more tries and 26 hours without water (although we did have a couple of gallons of water from food storage), we had success! Thank goodness Clark was home to help me with this crisis. I am very grateful that Clark is such a fix-it man.

Corbin thought it was all really fun

bad luck

In the last week: our computer died, our printer bit the dust, our internet went down for a day, the dvd player started to only work occasionally, and our sound system just started to randomly shut itself down. If you want to keep your electronics safe, keep me and Clark away from them.

La Piazza

Today we went downtown to La Piazza, a chalk art festival. They close down a block of streets, and hundreds of artists come to draw. We had a lot of fun walking around and seeing all the artwork. It was really interesting to watch the artists work. I think it is amazing that they can make chalk on pavement look so beautiful!

Baby birds

This is the third year that we have had baby birds. The nest is right outside our front window.
