camping

EY gives their employees Friday and Monday off for Labor Day. So we went camping with a bunch of EY friends Friday night to Saturday morning. Corbin had a ball playing in the dirt and making a big mess. We also went geocaching, which is basically a big hide and seek game using GPS. People hide small trinkets in waterproof containers, then they post the coordinates online so that others can find the loot. Once you find the container, you can take one of the trinkets out (Corbin picked out a little toy car), and then you replace that item with something you brought.
The only bad thing about our camping trip was how cold it got at night. We were all freezing! It was definitely one of the coldest camping trips of my life. It was so nice to get back home and to finally have warm toes again.
We got home from camping just in time to watch the BYU football game (or, according to Corbin we watched "baseball") against No. 3 Oklahoma. Clark was so excited to see BYU win! And every time an announcer would say "BYU" Corbin would go into a little chant of "BYU, BYU, BYU, BYU" What can I say, Clark has the kid trained.
And finally, if you want to take a little snooze in church, don't sit by Corbin. During every prayer today during church, Corbin would yell at Clark, "Wake up, Daddy! Wake up!" It was pretty funny.

Yesterday Corbin and I were sitting at the top of the stairs. We were having a lot of fun throwing balls and watching them bounce down the stairs. In the middle of our playing, Corbin turned and patted me on the head and said, "Cute. Cute Mama." It made my day.

Today we went to Great Plains Park with our friends Caden and Kylee. Corbin loves playing with Caden. It's funny to see Corbin copying things that Caden will do or say.

A little project

I am sick of losing puzzle pieces, so here is what I came up with the other day. I sewed some velcro on a couple pieces of fleece, and then I glued them onto the back of each puzzle. So far it works great. I wish I had put a little more slack in each pocket to make more room for the puzzle pieces. But since the fleece stretches, the pieces still fit nicely in each pocket.

Utah trip

We got back a few days ago from our trip to Utah. We had lots of fun with friends and family, but it is really nice to be back home. Corbin is having a really hard time catching up on all the sleep he missed, the last couple of nights by about 6 p.m. he is so tired that he goes from one tantrum to the next.

Here is a summary of our vacation. Troy came home from his LDS mission to Brazil. Welcome home, T-butt! We celebrated Grandma B's birthday. Clark played lots of golf. Corbin enjoyed getting completely spoiled by both of his grandmas. We met Corbin's newest cousin, Sophia, and I took some fun pictures of her. We went to Stephanie's baby blessing. We drove to BYU and watched a football practice that was open to the public, then we went to the bookstore and loaded up on BYU shirts for Clark and Corbin (I opted out of a new shirt. I have lots of shirts and sweatshirts from when I was on the gymnastics team). We took Corbin to the petting zoo at Thanksgiving Point. He was really excited to see the horsies, but he was too scared to go for a ride on one, maybe next time. We went out to eat a lot, and we finally saw the new Harry Potter movie, "Harry Potter and the Half Blood Prince."

No wonder we were so tired by the end of our trip!

A baby horse at the petting zoo. Corbin got brave enough to pet it once.

Corbin decided to eat his French Toast with measuring spoons. He used a different spoon for each bite.

Happy birthday Grandma B!

What's a birthday without ice-cream? This brings back memories of sitting on the floor at my grandparents house and eating ice-cream nearly every Sunday.

Corbin and Rex both loved playing the piano.

A photo I edited from the pictures I took of baby Sophia.

Playing with Grandma G at a bonfire at Shane and Chloe's house.

Car wash

Yesterday, Clark wanted to wash the car. To let Corbin get in on all the water fun, we brought out his trike and ride-on car, and let him wash those. He loved it.

2 year pictures

I took Corbin's 2 year pictures this morning. We drove down to a park in Castle Pines, called Daniels Park. I had never been there before, and there are some really great views up there. I want to bring Clark back sometime, so he can see it. Corbin loved all the big rocks, and he had lots of fun exploring the area. And while Corbin was busy playing, I managed to get some pictures of him that turned out great!

He has almost the exact same expression here, as in his 18 month picture. How funny.

Happy Birthday Corbin!

We had such a fun day yesterday for Corbin's birthday! We started the day at a local splash park. Corbin was a little scared of the shooting water at first, but after Clark and I showed him around he had lots of fun!

Then we went and had lunch a Chick-fil-a. They gave Corbin free ice-cream, two balloons, and a stuffed animal cow for his birthday. After Corbin's nap, Clark and I gave Corbin one of his presents, a sand and water table. Corbin and Clark played with it all afternoon! And here is Corbin's Lightning McQueen cake. The cars were one of his presents. He couldn't wait to blow out the candle (which he accomplished on the first try), and play with his new cars.

This little video of Corbin made my day! I am still smiling about it! We love having Corbin in our little family. He bring us so much joy! Happy Birthday Corbin!

Quiet book

I have finally finished Corbin's quiet book, and just in time for his birthday Saturday! I am pretty proud of myself. It took me a long time to put it all together. You can click on the pictures to enlarge them and see details.

In case you can't tell, the pink bottle is a reused lotion bottle that I made into mosquito repellent. Corbin can practice twisting on the lid.
The next page has places to put a notebook and a pencil.
The fish have magnets on the back, and there is a magnet on the string, so you can move the fish around the maze. I got the idea for this page, along with the idea of the lock and key on the next page from this website. Under the lock and key there is a pocket with a wallet in it, and so far I have made Cookie Monster and Elmo credit cards to go in it.

The car is attatched to the book with an elastic cord.

Felt food, and pick the apples from the tree. I eventually want to number the apples, but that can wait until later.
Inside the Noahs Ark is a Noah figurine I bought from the dollar store, and some small plastic animals.

Yesterday Corbin and I had some fun drawing on a flattened diaper box. Corbin has known his shapes for a while now, and his favorites are heart and star.

4th of July vacation

We had a great 4th of July weekend. We started off the festivities by going camping. I loved our campsite. It was so beautiful, and it had a trickle of water running along the edge that made Corbin very happy. We hiked up to Devil's Head, which is the last manned fire tower in Colorado. The views up there are amazing. On a clear day, you can see 100 miles in every direction.

On July 4th, we drove down and watched Parker city's fireworks. Corbin was really excited to go see them, but he got a little bored towards the end of the show.

We watched the fireworks from the back of our car.
