I've been summoned

A couple of days ago I got a surprise in the mail...a jury summons. I have to go in on Aug. 6. Does anyone know about how long a summons lasts? I'll have to find a sitter for Corbin.

sleepy

You will never guess what time Corbin woke up yesterday. Seriously. It's insane. He went to bed at 7:30 p.m., and he didn't wake up until 11:45 a.m. Sixteen hours of sleep (maybe he was practicing for his teenage years). He didn't even wake up to eat anything! I kept checking on him all morning, to make sure he was still breathing, and he was out like a light! My only guess is that he was trying to make up for all the sleep he missed while we were in Utah.

We're baaaack!

Well, we arrived home Monday night, safe and sound. Clark is already pretty busy with work, and I am busy trying to get things organized around here again. Unfortunately, I left my camera's usb cord in Utah. I have another one, but do you think I remember where it is? Hopefully I can find it soon, because I just took some pictures of our newly hatched baby birds (the nest is on our front porch and I can see it every time I look out the front window, it brings me great joy).

update

Well, I don't know about you guys, but I'm pretty sick of looking at that dog hair scarf. time for an update.

Life has been pretty busy lately. We arrived in Utah last Saturday. Corbin did pretty well traveling. We woke him up at 4 a.m. to head to the airport. I was sure he would fall back asleep during the 45 minute drive there. But he didn't fall asleep until Clark's parents picked us up from the Salt Lake airport at 8:45. From there we went straight to American Fork to get fambly pictures taken. After that we went to Clark's parents cabin. We stayed overnight there, and we had a really fun time. Corbin went on his first 4 wheeler ride, and we saw a doe and her fawn. They were only 5 or 6 feet away from us. Even though Corbin doesn't turn one until next month, we also celebrated his birthday. He love the presents he got from Grandpa and Grandma G. He especially loves his new car.

Sunday night Clark flew out to L.A. for work training. He will be there until Friday, and me and Corbin are chilling at my parents house.
I was pleasantly surprised that Corbin didn't get intimidated by all these people he didn't know. He found the toys, and he dove right on in.

a hairy situation

I was surfing the web this morning, and I came across this website. They make scarfs and blankets out of dog hair. If I had only known about this sooner, I could have saved all of Izzy's hair and ordered a Fathers Day scarf for Clark!

Washer and dryer

We finished putting up the shelves last night. Now my plan is to keep an eye out at garage sales for baskets/bins to organize all this extra storage space!

It's been a while since I last posted. Thanks for the lesson ideas, the kids had a really great time. Not too much has been going on here lately. Last Wednesday night Corbin woke up with a 102 fever, but by morning it was down to 100. He has been pretty fussy and clingy. We thought he was starting to get over his little cold, but last night he had big time diarrhea, which led to a midnight bath, and new sheets in his crib. He is starting to get a little cough as well. Goodness.

On a happier note, Clark and I got a stackable washer and dryer! (We actually got it about 2 months ago for free on craigslist, but it has been sitting in our garage up until 2 weeks ago). We weren't sure if the unit would even work, but we hooked it up, and it works better than our old washer and dryer! The washer is much, much quieter. I am so glad that we decided to pick it up. We almost didn't get it because it was soooo dirty. Seriously. It took about 40 minutes of elbow grease to clean the thing. It is a Kenmore unit, and I think the people could have sold it for at least 300 bucks, had they taken the time to clean it up. With the stackable unit, we now have tons more storage space. We bought some wire shelves from Lowes, and once we get them all installed I will post some pictures on here.

great news!

We just booked our flights to come to Utah. You read that right...we're flying!!! Izzy is going to stay at home, and our amazingly nice neighbor is going to come and let her out a few times a day. I am sooo excited that we don't have to worry about an 8 hour drive with a baby and a dog in the car. This will be a wonderful vacation!

smell and taste

The sunbeam lesson for this coming Sunday is about being thankful that we can smell and taste. I am thinking that I will bring little samples of things for the kids to smell and taste (possibly not letting them see the items, and then having them guess what the items are). Any suggestions? I have a girl in my class that cannot eat any dairy, so that limits my options a little bit. Here are some of my ideas.

SMELL

soap
cinnamon
perfume/aftershave (maybe let them put a little on)
lotion
flowers

TASTE

raisins
bread
apples
pretzels
-
Any kind of game/activity suggestions would also be appreciated. Also, does anyone know where I can buy those scratch and sniff stickers, do they still sell those things?

I love my crockpot

We had Indian chicken for dinner tonight (in the crockpot, of course. It has gotten to the point that Clark and I make dinner in the crockpot every Sunday. I love it.) It was really tasty. I haven't had Indian food for a long time, and this really hit the spot.
