Castlewood Canyon

Today was Clark's last day of vacation. So, we went to Castlewood Canyon and had a picnic, and went on a hike. Corbin loved hiking. He insisted on playing "following the leader" and of course he always got to be the leader. We hiked to Castlewood dam, on old dam that burst in 1933. On the way back from the dam we stopped to let Corbin play in the water next to the trail. When it was time to go, Corbin did not want to leave the park. But, both kids were really tired. Avery fell asleep within 5 minutes of getting in the car, and it only took about 10 minutes for Corbin to also drift off.

This happens pretty much every time I try to feed Avery baby food. :)

Royal Gorge Bridge

Memorial Day is quickly becoming my favorite holiday. For me, it signals that Clark's busy season is really and truly over, and that delightful summer vacations are on the horizon. This year, for the first part of the holiday weekend, we went to Royal Gorge Bridge in Canon City, CO. This has been on my to-do list since we first moved here. I was not disappointed. Royal Gorge Bridge is the highest suspension bridge in America (and one of the highest in the world, for that matter). I was a little worried that Corbin would freak out on the bridge. He's a little scared of heights. But, I worried for nothing. Corbin did great. He was nervous, but really brave. I was proud of him.

Looking down at the Arkansas River, and a train approximately 900 feet below the bridge.
We stayed overnight in Canon City. The camping was not the greatest. There were many red ant hills and cacti all around our site. Within a couple of hours of setting up camp, Corbin ended up with a bunch of cactus needles stuck in his ankle. Poor kiddo. But, we did have a chance to try out our new tent. And it was awesome! The thing is huge. It should last us forever. Avery did great the whole weekend. She was such a little trooper. And she only woke up twice in the tent, which is not bad considering the fact that she is still waking up 1-2 times a night at home.

playing outside

Behind our house there is a walking path, and a field/drainage area. A few times a year after big rain storms, we get a little river out there. This morning we had some good weather, and the river was nice and low from all the rain we have been receiving. So I took the kiddos out and let Corbin play in the water. I think he would have stayed out there all day, if I had let him.

6 1/2 month photoshoot

This one is a picture of Avery wearing my blessing dress. It's crazy how much she looks like me in this picture.

feeding ducks

A couple of weeks ago we went to the park with a friend to feed the ducks. Corbin and his little buddy had so much fun running around together!

6 months!

Avery is 6 months old. Here are some of things she has done during the last month:

* She can roll across the room now. This is a scary thing, because baby-proofing the house is nearly impossible with another child in the house to leave tiny objects on the floor for her to find.
* We moved her out of our room, and into the crib in Corbin's room. So far, the transition has gone really smoothly. Avery still wakes up at night, and thankfully Corbin is a deep sleeper, so she does not wake him.
* Avery has ticklish feet. She always laughs when I wash them. I love it.
* Avery's first tooth broke through on May 4, 2010. It is on the bottom right.
* She is still not a big fan of baby food, but we are working on it. I can usually get her to eat 2 or 3 spoonfuls before she starts spitting it all out.
* She can sit for a few seconds by herself, before toppling over.

6 Month stats:
Weight: 14 lb 8.5 ounces 25%
Height: 26 inches 50%
Head: 16 1/2 inches 30%

Corbin loves laundry day, because he plays garbage with the empty laundry baskets. Here, Avery is getting in on the fun.

Memories

Staci, Quinn, Troy, Marci

I've had a lot of memories running through my head lately. I am very grateful that I have these sweet memories that can help lift me up a little bit, during the hard parts of life. This Easter season I have had the chance to really reflect upon the Atonement of Jesus Christ. I am so grateful that he was willing to die for us, so that we may all be resurrected one day.

Easter festivities

We had an Easter egg hunt with friends from church.

Corbin and Avery received presents from grandparents. Corbin's favorites were the hard hat in the picture below, and a tootsie roll bank. He carries the bank around with him everywhere. You will see both items in the video below.
And the rest of the pictures are of Corbin and Aves in their Easter clothes.

Corbin woke up at 6:45 am on Easter morning. I told him to go back to bed because the Easter Bunny had not come yet. The sad look on his face just about broke my heart. So, when he came in again at 7:20, I told him it was late enough that we could go downstairs to look for baskets.
