We had the chance to make a quick trip to Utah this last weekend. Clark's work sent him to BYU to recruit/interview some of smart accounting students there. We had a lot of fun seeing family, going out to eat, and just hanging out. Here are a few pictures from our trip.

Playing with cousins
Corbin got to fulfill his dream of getting to hold the leaf blower. For most of the summer Corbin would insist that he wanted to be a lawnmower when he grows up, and that he wants to be in charge of the blower.

We brought Izzy along for the drive. As you can see, we folded down the double seat in the car and gave her a nice big area to lay down next to Corbin. However, her preferred method of travel turned out to be laying part-way in the trunk. Works for us!

I'm thinking of something black...Darth Vader!

Corbin and I played "I spy" today. Here's how the game went.

Staci: "I spy with my little eye a slide"
Corbin: "I spy with my little eye...rocks!"
Staci: "I spy with my little eye a shovel"
Corbin: "I spy with my little eye...rocks!"
Staci: "I spy with my little eye a truck"
Corbin: "I spy with my little eye...rocks!"
Staci: "I spy with my little eye a lawn mower"
Corbin: "I spy with my little eye...rocks!"

...and so on and so on.

Labor Day Weekend

We had a really nice Labor Day holiday. We started it out by going camping with some friends from Clark's work. Corbin had a blast playing with all the other kids. We also brought Izzy along, and she was very popular with the kids! Corbin managed to have a dirt mustache the whole time we were there.

After camping, we spent the rest of the weekend watching BYU football, playing the wii, cleaning the house, and working on fix-it projects. All in all, it was a great time. And Corbin has asked every morning since then if Clark will stay home and play with him, and not go to work.

Preschool

Corbin had his first day of preschool last week. He was really excited to get to go to school, and so far he really likes it! He goes once a week, with a group of 5 other kids from church/the neighborhood. Corbin really enjoys learning. He NEVER stops asking "why." Which drives me crazy, but I just have to remind myself that he is just wanting to learn about anything and everything. He is also starting to get more interested in letters. He loves to point out every letter "G" that he can find (although I'm not too sure why he likes "G" so much). The social interaction will also be really good for him. And especially once baby sister comes, it will be nice for Corbin to have something fun that is just for him.

Book of Mormon Stories

Yesterday in church, Corbin heard someone from the pulpit say, "Book of Mormon." And he immediately launched into singing "Book of Mormon Stories." He sang pretty quietly, so I didn't shush him, and I let him sing it out. It is one of his favorite songs lately. He has really been learning a lot lately. It seems like everyday I am amazed by something new he says or does.

Take a bow!

Corbin was in the funniest mood when he woke up this morning. He was dancing and singing around the kitchen. And then I found out that he learned from somewhere (probably some cartoon) that you bow when you are done performing. He's such a funny guy.

Here are a couple of fun things that we have been up to lately.

Here is a recipe for sidewalk paint. Corbin LOVED it!

Fire Station fun

This morning we went downtown to check out an open house/fun day put on by the Denver Fire-fighter Museum. We are so glad that we went because we had a lot of fun! It was the perfect day for Corbin because he has recently become obsessed with all things related to fire trucks/fire-fighters. We got to ride a fire truck, played lots of games, toured the museum, and Corbin got to shoot a hose and a fire extinguisher to put out a pretend fire. The fire extinguisher kind of freaked him out, but he really liked the hose. We also got to see some fire-fighters use the jaws of life to cut open a car, and that was really interesting to watch. I think Corbin's favorite part was when the fire-fighters used an axe to cut out the windshield .

Riding the fire truck. They took us on about a 10 minute ride around downtown Denver, and they even turned on the lights and sirens. Corbin loved it, and so did Clark and I.
This is the truck we rode.

3 year photo shoot

This morning the weather was nice and cloudy, so I decided to go ahead and take Corbin's 3 year pictures. We went to a park nearby, and to bribe Corbin for nice smiles I let him feed some of the ducks while we were there. I am really happy with how the pictures turned out. I can't believe my little guy is getting so big!

3 years old!

Corbin just celebrated his 3rd birthday! Lately, when asked his age, Corbin would respond, "I'm two and a half" So on his birthday, we were telling Corbin that now he could tell people that he is three years old. Corbin said, "okay. I'm three and a half!" He's having a hard time letting go of that "half" :)
Here are a few things about Corbin at age three:
* weighs 28 lbs, and is 37 inches tall
* is still deathly afraid of doctors. He screamed through his entire well-check appointment, poor kid.
* loves transportation toys, especially trains, cars and trucks.
* his favorite tv shows continue to be "Word World" and "Wonder Pets." However "Bob the Builder" is also becoming a big favorite.
* Corbin loves going to the library each week. He always picks out transportation books.
* loves camping and hiking. Basically he just loves being outside.
* Corbin loves gum. It has become a great bribery tool/reward.
* loves eating corn on the cob, any kind of berry, pretzels, fruit snacks. He hates crunchy bread (toast), rice, and mashed potatoes.
* and he melts my heart when he says, "I sure do love you Mom/Dad"

Here are pictures and a video from Corbin's day.

Look how excited he is to see the cake.
Clark baked the cake, I frosted it, and Corbin did the decorating. It was a true group effort.
