Hanging Lake

We have had a busy weekend! We drove to Grand Junction Friday, and we stayed the night there (We booked through priceline.com and we got a really great deal. Our hotel was super nice...I didn't want to leave). My parents met up with us there, so that we could switch back cars from last week. Corbin had so much fun playing in the swimming pool at the hotel. Corbin also love playing with Grandma and Grandpa B. He just loves all of his grandparents.

Saturday, we checked out of the hotel and went to breakfast with my parents. After that we said goodbye and drove our separate ways. On the way home, we decided to stop and hike up to Hanging Lake. The trail was a little hard, but the lake was so beautiful! The water was so clear, you could see all the way to the bottom. We were able to see lots of fish swimming around. Corbin also found a big fuzzy caterpillar, and he really enjoyed watching it move around. I would guess that Corbin's favorite part of the hike was that we let him throw a rock into the small stream every time we crossed a bridge. It kept him happy while he was in the backpack, and he was always on the lookout for the next bridge.

Absolutely beautiful!

It's hard to see, but the caterpillar is next to Corbin's hand.

I let Corbin watch cartoons in the mornings while I shower and get ready for the day. Today, as I was finishing up I could hear Corbin laughing like crazy downstairs. So I went to see what was happening (the laughing definitely made me more nervous to discover what kind of craziness he was up to). I found him feeding Izzy cereal. Using one of my slippers as a bowl. No wonder he was laughing. Izzy looks pretty funny with her mouth shoved down my shoe. What will the kid come up with next?

Another Utah trip

Clark's work sent him on a recruiting trip to BYU this last week, so Corbin and decided to tag along and visit family. We drove out on Wednesday night, and just as we were reaching Eagle Mountain, our car started to freak out. Something to do with the electronic throttle control. So the next morning Clark took the car to a dealership to get it fixed (thank goodness it it still under warranty).
On Saturday, my parents took us to Liberty Land in Lehi. We had lots of fun there! Corbin loved riding the go-carts with Clark, and he really liked the bumper boats too. I tried to be tricky on the boats and push my mom under the waterfall to get her really wet. My plan totally backfired. I ended going under the waterfall and getting completing soaked. I guess I deserved it :)

The dumb car dealership didn't finish fixing our car before we had to leave to come back to Colorado, so my mom was nice enough to let us drive her car, and we will swap back cars this weekend. On our drive home we were shocked to find snow in Vail! I guess summer is official over. The snow was beautiful, but it did end up adding about 40 minutes to our drive. We were at a complete stand-still because of a semi that had jack-knifed on I-70 (or so they told us on the radio). Corbin was quite the little trooper, and was very patient with being cooped up the car for so long.

Corbin loved seeing his grandparents, and being completely spoiled with attention. This little video makes me laugh. We were coming back from the mall, and Corbin was super tired, and he was falling asleep while he was eating.

Labor Day

We worked hard on Labor Day, and we finally crossed off a project that we have been wanting to do since we moved in three years ago (I can't believe we have lived here for three years! Where has the time gone?) We tiled Corbin's bathroom. Good-bye gross carpet!

I am really happy with how it turned out. I wish we had chosen a slightly darker grout, but I'm okay with this color too. Seeing the finished tile has me very excited for the day that we finally get around to tiling and remodeling the master bath, but I don't think that will happen until next summer.

camping

EY gives their employees Friday and Monday off for Labor Day. So we went camping with a bunch of EY friends Friday night to Saturday morning. Corbin had a ball playing in the dirt and making a big mess. We also went geocaching, which is basically a big hide and seek game using GPS. People hide small trinkets in waterproof containers, then they post the coordinates online so that others can find the loot. Once you find the container, you can take one of the trinkets out (Corbin picked out a little toy car), and then you replace that item with something you brought.
The only bad thing about our camping trip was how cold it got at night. We were all freezing! It was definitely one of the coldest camping trips of my life. It was so nice to get back home and to finally have warm toes again.
We got home from camping just in time to watch the BYU football game (or, according to Corbin we watched "baseball") against No. 3 Oklahoma. Clark was so excited to see BYU win! And every time an announcer would say "BYU" Corbin would go into a little chant of "BYU, BYU, BYU, BYU" What can I say, Clark has the kid trained.
And finally, if you want to take a little snooze in church, don't sit by Corbin. During every prayer today during church, Corbin would yell at Clark, "Wake up, Daddy! Wake up!" It was pretty funny.

Yesterday Corbin and I were sitting at the top of the stairs. We were having a lot of fun throwing balls and watching them bounce down the stairs. In the middle of our playing, Corbin turned and patted me on the head and said, "Cute. Cute Mama." It made my day.

Today we went to Great Plains Park with our friends Caden and Kylee. Corbin loves playing with Caden. It's funny to see Corbin copying things that Caden will do or say.

A little project

I am sick of losing puzzle pieces, so here is what I came up with the other day. I sewed some velcro on a couple pieces of fleece, and then I glued them onto the back of each puzzle. So far it works great. I wish I had put a little more slack in each pocket to make more room for the puzzle pieces. But since the fleece stretches, the pieces still fit nicely in each pocket.

Utah trip

We got back a few days ago from our trip to Utah. We had lots of fun with friends and family, but it is really nice to be back home. Corbin is having a really hard time catching up on all the sleep he missed, the last couple of nights by about 6 p.m. he is so tired that he goes from one tantrum to the next.

Here is a summary of our vacation. Troy came home from his LDS mission to Brazil. Welcome home, T-butt! We celebrated Grandma B's birthday. Clark played lots of golf. Corbin enjoyed getting completely spoiled by both of his grandmas. We met Corbin's newest cousin, Sophia, and I took some fun pictures of her. We went to Stephanie's baby blessing. We drove to BYU and watched a football practice that was open to the public, then we went to the bookstore and loaded up on BYU shirts for Clark and Corbin (I opted out of a new shirt. I have lots of shirts and sweatshirts from when I was on the gymnastics team). We took Corbin to the petting zoo at Thanksgiving Point. He was really excited to see the horsies, but he was too scared to go for a ride on one, maybe next time. We went out to eat a lot, and we finally saw the new Harry Potter movie, "Harry Potter and the Half Blood Prince."

No wonder we were so tired by the end of our trip!

A baby horse at the petting zoo. Corbin got brave enough to pet it once.

Corbin decided to eat his French Toast with measuring spoons. He used a different spoon for each bite.

Happy birthday Grandma B!

What's a birthday without ice-cream? This brings back memories of sitting on the floor at my grandparents house and eating ice-cream nearly every Sunday.

Corbin and Rex both loved playing the piano.

A photo I edited from the pictures I took of baby Sophia.

Playing with Grandma G at a bonfire at Shane and Chloe's house.

Car wash

Yesterday, Clark wanted to wash the car. To let Corbin get in on all the water fun, we brought out his trike and ride-on car, and let him wash those. He loved it.

2 year pictures

I took Corbin's 2 year pictures this morning. We drove down to a park in Castle Pines, called Daniels Park. I had never been there before, and there are some really great views up there. I want to bring Clark back sometime, so he can see it. Corbin loved all the big rocks, and he had lots of fun exploring the area. And while Corbin was busy playing, I managed to get some pictures of him that turned out great!

He has almost the exact same expression here, as in his 18 month picture. How funny.
