Big brother

It has been fun watching Corbin be the big brother to Avery. I was a little worried about how the transition from only child to big brother would go, but so far Corbin has been amazing. He loves "baby Abe-we." Corbin loves to help burp Avery after she eats. He loves it when she is awake and will look at him. He is always very interested in what Avery is doing, and making sure that she is okay. It has been really sweet for me to watch my rough and tumble, rambunctious boy be so loving and gentle with his little sister. The first day, after he came home from visiting us at the hospital, he started crying to Grandma that baby sister was hurt at the hospital. He had seen her umbilical cord, and he thought that she had gotten hurt and he was genuinely concerned. The next morning Clark went home to shower, and Corbin asked him if baby sister's owie was better. I am very blessed to have such wonderful, amazing kids.

Avery and I are both doing great. So far she is a very content and sleepy baby. And she is also a great eater, yippee! We are enjoying snuggling and loving our beautiful baby girl!

We carved pumpkins last night. We all had a lot of fun! We grew the pumpkins in our backyard this year, and I am really proud of how great they turned out.

goings on

I haven't updated much lately. So here is a recap of life lately.

* Corbin had a fever that lasted for 11 days. It was a pain. Thank goodness it is finally gone. The doctors never figured out what was causing it.

* I am set to be induced on November 1. So that will be baby's birthday, unless baby decides to show her pretty face earlier. I had an ultrasound last week, and according to the measurements baby sister weighs about 6 lb 5 oz, and we could see some hair on her head. So fun. We still don't have any names picked out, but I am not too stressed about that fact. I think we just might need to meet her before we can decide on a name.

* Other than that, we have just been enjoying the warm fall weather, and trying to prepare the house for baby. As a funny side note, a while ago Clark told me that he thought nesting was when the mom gets too big to do anything, and she just sits in the nest all day. I am definitely getting to the point where I am getting to big to move around easily, so I like his definition of nesting much better than the real one. Cleaning the house is way over-rated, and I get too tired to do much anyways.

* And here is a funny quote of Corbin's that I had written down a while ago, but forgot to post.
Corbin: "Mom, I need a ear-tip, so I can hear better."
Me: "Do you mean q-tip?"
Corbin: "Yeah, I need a q-tip."

We had the chance to make a quick trip to Utah this last weekend. Clark's work sent him to BYU to recruit/interview some of smart accounting students there. We had a lot of fun seeing family, going out to eat, and just hanging out. Here are a few pictures from our trip.

Playing with cousins
Corbin got to fulfill his dream of getting to hold the leaf blower. For most of the summer Corbin would insist that he wanted to be a lawnmower when he grows up, and that he wants to be in charge of the blower.
Playing with Uncle Kyle
We brought Izzy along for the drive. As you can see, we folded down the double seat in the car and gave her a nice big area to lay down next to Corbin. However, her preferred method of travel turned out to be laying part-way in the trunk. Works for us!

I'm thinking of something black...Darth Vader!

Corbin and I played "I spy" today. Here's how the game went.

Staci: "I spy with my little eye a slide"
Corbin: "I spy with my little eye...rocks!"
Staci: "I spy with my little eye a shovel"
Corbin: "I spy with my little eye...rocks!"
Staci: "I spy with my little eye a truck"
Corbin: "I spy with my little eye...rocks!"
Staci: "I spy with my little eye a lawn mower"
Corbin: "I spy with my little eye...rocks!"

...and so on and so on.

Labor Day Weekend

We had a really nice Labor Day holiday. We started it out by going camping with some friends from Clark's work. Corbin had a blast playing with all the other kids. We also brought Izzy along, and she was very popular with the kids! Corbin managed to have a dirt mustache the whole time we were there.

After camping, we spent the rest of the weekend watching BYU football, playing the wii, cleaning the house, and working on fix-it projects. All in all, it was a great time. And Corbin has asked every morning since then if Clark will stay home and play with him, and not go to work.

Preschool

Corbin had his first day of preschool last week. He was really excited to get to go to school, and so far he really likes it! He goes once a week, with a group of 5 other kids from church/the neighborhood. Corbin really enjoys learning. He NEVER stops asking "why." Which drives me crazy, but I just have to remind myself that he is just wanting to learn about anything and everything. He is also starting to get more interested in letters. He loves to point out every letter "G" that he can find (although I'm not too sure why he likes "G" so much). The social interaction will also be really good for him. And especially once baby sister comes, it will be nice for Corbin to have something fun that is just for him.

Book of Mormon Stories

Yesterday in church, Corbin heard someone from the pulpit say, "Book of Mormon." And he immediately launched into singing "Book of Mormon Stories." He sang pretty quietly, so I didn't shush him, and I let him sing it out. It is one of his favorite songs lately. He has really been learning a lot lately. It seems like everyday I am amazed by something new he says or does.
