Mountain fun

Exploring Butterfield Canyon on the 24th of July. Clark had to work that day, so the kids and I grabbed some Wendy's and had a picnic in the mountain.

At Silver Lake, which is right by Brighton ski resort.

A campfire dinner with some Gee cousins. The kids loved playing in the dirt with their cousins!

1st grade!

Today is Corbin's first day of 1st grade! He is an Eastlake Dragon this year. Corbin was really excited to start school, I hope that he continues to be excited about school. I always loved starting a new year of school. I told Corbin that I was jealous that he got to start school, and he thought that it was funny that I miss going to school. I'm kind of a nerd.
I'm sure going to miss having my Corbin boy around all day. But, I think that this is going to be a great year for him. I like his new school. They seem to be pretty on the ball. And his teacher, Mrs. Lambourne seemed pretty nice when we met her yesterday.
Here's to a new year! We are going to celebrate by going out to McDonalds for ice-cream after school.

This was taken yesterday, at his meet the teacher appointment. He was so disappointed that he didn't get to stay all day at school.

My 1st grader!!!!

Avery was feeling left out this morning. She kept insisting that she was a big girl, so she wanted to go to school too. After we dropped Corbin, Avery said on the walk back to the car, "I miss Corbin!" So special.

Corbin was very excited about his Star Wars lunch box. And that he now gets to eat lunch at school.

And, Corbin insisted on a family picture. So, here we are!

Star wars...just a drive away

The following happened on the way home from the library, with Corbin looking at a new Star Wars book.

"Mom! There's a Star Wars map in here! You can drive to Star Wars! And it's only 15 minutes away!"

Betcha didn't know that.

8/26/13
Clarification: Found out yesterday that Corbin didn't think it was the real Star Wars, but a Star Wars Land kind of like Disneyland.  Still, it was a cute thing for him to say.

A bunch of garbage

We took the cub scouts (or "scout kids" as Corbin calls them) to the Trans Jordan Landfill the other day. We got to have a tour of the landfill, and then we learned about recycling. Corbin was in heaven! He loved it. He has dreamed of going to a landfill for years and years. :) I thought it was really fun and interesting, too!

Visitors!!

Our Colorado friends, the Waldron's, were in town on Friday. They came by our new house for a play date. Oh, how we miss this family! It was so wonderful to see them and catch up. And it was great to see the kids playing together, like no time had passed.

Me and Rachael

Corbin and Haden. Star Wars buddies for life.

Avery and Lila

So fun. Hopefully we can see each other again soon! (And any of our other Colorado friends, too! Because we miss you all like crazy!!)

Avery on the bike

Avery has upgraded from the tricycle to a bike with training wheels. She loves it! She picked up the pedaling really quickly, but she hasn't quite figured out the brakes yet.

Party like a Jedi

We do only do friend birthday parties every other year. This year was a party year for Corbin, and he wanted a Star Wars party. The party was a lot of work, but I think that Corbin will always have good memories of it, so I am glad that we put so much time and effort into it.

As the kids first came they got to decorate Han Solo gun holsters that my mom and I made out of felt.

After that we played pin the light saber on Darth Vader. Corbin is lucky to have a ton of kids his age in our neighborhood.

We made a laser beam maze. This was easily Corbin's favorite activity. He loved it!!

The we went outside and had a Death Star pinata (that Corbin helped build and paint, unfortunately my camera freaked out and we don't have any pictures), and then we had a silly string fight.

We ended the party with a game of shoot the pictures of star wars bad guys, that quickly turned into a water fight. Clark was a great sport, and the kids loved shooting him.

All in all, the party was a big success! And most importantly Corbin loved it!

6 years old!

Corbin is 6 years old! I can't believe how fast he is growing. I think he had a pretty fun birthday. We started the day with pancakes. Followed by some bike riding. After that Grandpa and Grandma G took Corbin and his cousin Bryson bowling and out to McDonalds for lunch. Once Corbin got home, I took the kids to the swimming pool. And then we had dinner, presents, and cake. A busy, fun-filled birthday!

Wearing his new Star Wars shirt

Corbin has had lots of fun with this remote control truck.

We found out a couple of days after his birthday, that Corbin had a double ear infection. Poor guy. He sure was a trooper.
