4th of July vacation

We had a nice long vacation for the 4th of July weekend. We started it out by camping at Silver Jack Reservoir, which is about 5 or so hours from our house. It was a really beautiful place to camp.

I think Corbin's favorite part of the whole vacation was throwing rocks in the river. He could have done it all day long.
Corbin also loved playing in the dirt with his trucks.
Here is a picture of our campsite resident deer. We saw the deer at least once every day we were there. It was pretty fun. This picture was taken right by our campfire.
Clark wins husband/dad/camper of the year. We woke up to rain the first morning. It was really cold, and Corbin came and watched a movie in the car shortly after this picture was taken, so that he could warm up. Clark cooked us breakfast in the rain. Then the weather cleared up and we were able to go fishing. Unfortunately, we didn't catch anything. I'm sure Corbin's rock throwing didn't help much in that department, but we sure had fun trying. As we finished up fishing it started raining again, so Clark won the prize again by getting a fire started with damp wood, and sitting in the rain to roast our hot dogs for dinner.
Here Corbin is fishing with a little stick pole that we made. This is at Rowdy Lake.

After 2 nights of camping we loaded up the car again and headed further south to meet up with some of Clark's family in Durango, CO. Here is a picture of the whole gang. It was really fun to see some family and to hang out together.
Is it just me, or do Corbin and Grandpa G have the same smile?
Waiting for fireworks. Corbin was sooo excited to watch them, but he was so tired that he lost interest pretty soon after they started.
On Monday, we drove to Silverton, an old mining town. They have a train that goes from Durango to Silverton, but because of the high cost, and the fact that it would be a 9 hour affair, we decided just to drive in our cars to get there. Once we got there, they were kind enough to let us check out the train, which Corbin LOVED doing. In the picture above, Corbin is blowing his new train whistle.

This conductor was really nice. He showed us the fire in the engine, and where the coal is stored. It was really cool. They also were nice enough to let Corbin walk around the empty train. He was in train heaven. All in all, it was a really fun vacation, that went by much to quickly.

This is a video of Corbin on the train. He starts out by singing his favorite song from "The Polar Express," the "Hot Chocolate" song.
